Ms Alka Narang

Ms Alka Narang is a development professional with over 30 years of experience in strategic planning, policy advocacy, and programme management, with a strong focus on gender, inclusion, poverty reduction, social protection, sustainable livelihoods, and health—especially HIV prevention and care. She has led impactful initiatives including UNDP programmes on education, trafficking, and sexual violence; path-breaking research on the socio-economic impact of HIV; and efforts toward legal recognition of transgender rights in India. Ms Narang also pioneered the UNDP-GAVI partnership to strengthen health systems and created the first leadership programme for People Living with HIV. She excels at forging multi-sectoral partnerships involving government, civil society organisations, academia, and private sector.
